A rare backstage glimpse of Phil Collins who taught himself to play music. His break came when he answered an Ad from a band looking for a ‘sensitive drummer’ – that band was Genesis. The auditions were held at Peter Gabriel’s house and Collins let everyone else go before him – he had memorised all the songs by the time his turn came. When Peter Gabriel left they auditioned hundreds of new singers and Collins showed them how to do it. “The day I started singing with Genesis changed my life. It was March 27, 1976.” Collins is one of just three people in the world who have sold more than 100 million albums around the world as part of a group and as solo musicians. The other two musicians are Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson.
