Le Bon was always going to be a performer. His mother Ann-Marie took him for a screen test for a Persil washing powder TV advert when he was 6. He was a member of his church choir and had trained to be an actor. It was when he was studying a degree in Drama at Birmingham University that he was introduced to John Taylor and Nick Rhodes by his girlfriend Fiona Kemp in May 1980. He turned up to audition dressed in pink leopard skin and carrying a folder of poems. One of which he adapted to create ‘Sound of Thunder’. In 1981 they released their first album ‘Duran Duran’ and became Kings of the New Romantic scene.
