The unmistakable Daniel ‘Dee’ Snider in portrait. Surprisingly Snider’s first musical experiences were for the local Episcopalian Church choir. He was so good he was selected for the All-State Chorus. He was in bands Peacock and Heather but joined Twisted Sister in 1976 at the height of glam rock era and the birth of punk. They found a following in the UK before the US which kept them recording and with their third album ‘Stay Hungry’ made them one of the biggest rock sensations of the 1980’s. In the mid 80’s Snider was chosen to host the first MTV program to consist entirely of heavy metal. His heavy make up, long hair, and bright red lipstick was the epitome of a Twisted Sister.
