The band that inspired ‘Spinal Tap’ captured here backstage before they played Castle Donington’s Monsters of Rock festival in 1986. This was their second ‘The Comic Strip Presents …’ series as incompetent rockers. Created by British comedy legends Nigel Planer, Ade Edmondson, Peter Richardson, and Rik Mayall, Bad News were unlike Spinal Tap in that they weren’t portrayed as successful, or even particularly very good. Edmondson and Mayall bickered and squabbled as they always did in the ‘Young Ones’ and ‘Bottom’. The joke was appreciated by many as shown by guest appearances with the band by Jeff Beck, Brian May, and Jimmy Page.
