Seen here relaxing on London’s Hampstead Heath in 1986 are Tony Kiley, Dr Robert, and Neville Henry. They got together in 1981 after finding each other via an advert in Melody Maker, but it wasn’t until 1986 and their second album ‘Animal Magic’ that the band hit the big time. The track ‘Digging Your Scene’ was a hit for them. A beguiling blend of R&B, pop and jazz, ‘Digging Your Scene’ proved to be popular across the globe – and might remain their calling card to this day. They had four albums and eleven singles in the charts between 1986 and 1990. They were the embodiment of the stylish veneer of the New Romantic wave of British music but differer in that they were often political in their songs.
