Formed by Clive Jackson in 1981 The Medics’ were a dash of 70’s glam thrown into the new wave punk mix of the early 80’s. Known for their theatrical live performances the band remained indie chart favourites until 1986 when their cover of Norman Greenbaum’s “Spirit in the Sky” took them to number 1. Seen here are Jackson as the Doctor, Wendi West and Collette Appleby as the Anadin Brothers, Steve McGuire, Richard Searle, and Steve Ritchie.

The NME referred to them as “THE live band of the year.” for 1985.
