Midge’s name is actually Jim – he was given the name Midge after being in an early band with one other Jim – so they decided to reverse Ure’s name from Jim to Mij to avoid confusion – it stuck. Ure has been in Silk, Rich Kids, Misfits, Visage, Thin Lizzy, and Ultravox. Malcolm McLaren offered him the position as lead singer of a band he was putting together called The Sex Pistols. Midge said no.

Rich Kids took Ure to London to play with former Sex Pistol Glen Matlock, but when Ure bought a new Yamaha synthesiser they fell out. Ure formed Visage with Steve Strange and stared experimenting with the new technology and created hit single ‘Fade to Grey’. He was asked by Phil Lynott to join Thin Lizzy when Gary Moore walked out. He then joined Ultravox with Visage member Billy Currie and recorded the hit album ‘Vienna’. One of his biggest achievements was putting together Band Aid with Bob Geldof in 1984. He co-wrote ‘Do They Know It’s Christmas’.
