Black Sabbath were born in August 1969 after seeing how people reacted to an Italian horror movie of the same name starring Boris Karloff.  Their debut album, Black Sabbath, was released in December. Though it received a negative critical response for being dark and heavy, the album was a commercial success.  The only downside for Ozzy was “in those days, the band wasn’t very popular with the women”.   The intimate portrait here is of him relaxing at his former home Chalfont Manor. He sold the house after burglars broke in, and leaving Sharon locked in the bedroom when out and confronted them naked. A fight broke out and one thief went out of a first floor window but they still got away with over £1million worth of jewels and gold.
