The Rossington Collins Band was formed from the ashes of the terrible airplane crash that killed Lynyrd Skynyrd.  Survivors Gary Rossington and Allen Collins wanted to create their own Southern rock sound rather than be regarded as just a reformed Lynyrd Skynyrd.  To this end they hired Dale Krantz as lead vocalist who Rossington later married.  Rossington still performs as the sole survivor from the great Lynyrd Skynyrd.
